Since its formation in 1991, Colibri, Branding and Design, aimed at design excellence and has proudly come to be one of the leading graphic design firms in Greece. By 1998, Colibri had achieved local recognition for its design originality and consistency in quality work for clients like The British Council, the National Theatre of Nothern Greece and Forthnet -the major internet service provider in the country.
In the following years Colibri gradually transformed itself from a group of willing and able designers to a corporation. In the process, we expanded our activities in a wide range of design work, grew in numbers and professional experience and helped clients establish a coherent visual communication strategy: museum and multimedia design for the Greek Biotope/ Wetlands Centre, corporate identity and publications for Black Sea Trade & Development Bank, rebranding of Stratigakis foreign language centres, packaging for Boutari wines, advertising for Porto Carras Grand Resort, promotion of Telloglio Art Foundation, branding the first greek tour operator Plan&Go, web design for Office 25 architects, product design and branding for the Writing Fields publishers, e.t.c.
For the quality of our design work, we have earned over fifteen national awards, among them the highest distinctions in Greece: a Grand Ermis in 2006 -the top prize in design by the Hellenic Association of Communication Agencies, a Mega EVGE in 2003 -for the best performance in greek graphic design by the Greek Graphic Design and Illustration Awards. We are also regularly invitated to give lectures and present our projects to the greek design community.
Colibri is a community in itself. Over the years, young designers have evolved into highly skilled professionals and junior partners, experienced designers look for challenge and a suitable environment to further develop themselves – the creative team is always on the move. Training and keeping in touch with the contemporary design worldwide helps us sustain a high level of visual communication services.
The International Conferences on Typography and Visual Communication (Thessaloniki, 2005, 2006, 2007), the PanEuropean Branding and Design Association Congress (Athens, 2007), Kevin Keller's Brand Imperatives Conference (Thessaloniki, 2008) top the list of fora we attend. Our library is constantly enriched by books and the subscriptions in four leading international design magazines.
Our best tutors have always been the clients' corporate standards, their insight on the market and the research on their competition. Cedefop, for instance, a major european institution, offered Colibri the opportunity to work for over seven years under the guidance of highly trained professionals, and helped us conform to european standards of professional conduct and develop a better understanding of different aspects of visual communication.
Today, Colibri enjoys national recognition, operates offices in Thessaloniki and Athens, employs 13 designers, and 5 administrative officers, offers services to clients in Greece and abroad and all but rests on its laurels. |
